INTAKE & POLICIES

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable, loose fitting or exercise clothing. Treatment will, with few exceptions, be performed through clothing.  Jeans or denim and hooded sweatshirts
can be tough to palpate or feel through, so it would be considerate to avoid wearing these during your treatment. The same goes for underwire and sports bras. You may bring clothing to change into for treatment if you wish.

Following a Session

While treatment with Fascial Counterstrain is quite gentle, the effects can be very powerful and create a significant change within your body. It is not uncommon to feel sore or fatigued after a session. This is due to the release of metabolites into the body that have been trapped for some time and/or your body’s adjusting to functioning in a new position. Although this type of response may not be pleasant, it is due to changes that have been made within the body by the release of dysfunctional tissue tension, and is not a sign of re-injury or a worsening of your condition. It can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

Please drink
plenty of water…

especially following treatment. It is important to be well hydrated because trapped metabolic waste will be released into your bloodstream. Drinking 5 – 8 glasses of water or more, will help the body flush out these potential toxins. This will also reduce the possibility of your body’s response to treatment with soreness or aching.

Engage in light activity…

such as walking or other gentle exercise in which good postural alignment is maintained. This will encourage improved circulation and can help with the removal of metabolic byproducts from the treated areas. It will also aid the body in its transition of functioning in a new alignment.

Should you get sore after a session…

gentle movement, an Epsom Salt bath or hot tub soak, ice, and drinking plenty of water can help your body recover. Any supplements or medications you might already be using to combat these types of symptoms can be used as well. This would not undo the treatment.

Avoid strenuous activity…

for 2-3 days. This includes exercise/training, yard work, and any other activity in which the body feels strain (postural strain included). Since your body has most likely been in its state of dysfunction for a long time, it is easy for it to resume old, familiar movement patterns before new ones have a chance to become established. You could be sabotaging your progress.

…the effects can be very powerful and create a significant change
